Easter Veggie Garden Arrangement

I can't imagine anyone not enjoying spring because there are so many adorable pastel things for the home this time of year. A few weeks ago, I was at HomeGoods, admiring all the cute Easter decorations they had and could not resist buying a cute Easter bunny and some carrots. I did not know what I would do with them at the time, but I knew I would use them somehow.

This weekend, I remembered a metal basket I have on the veranda. Normally I plant flowers in it, but it was the perfect shape for making my Easter Veggie Garden Arrangement. Don't hesitate to use old containers for something seasonal because I will show you how to secure the decorations, yet allow you to remove them and use the container for another purpose later.

Although you may not be able to find the same basket and bunny I have, this same idea can be adapted for any shape and size basket and bunny you probably have at home.

This bunny is so cute, you won't care that he might be stealing carrots out of this garden!

You will need:

-A basket of your choice
-2 inch thick sheet of Make It: Fun® STYROFOAM™ Brand Foam
-Design It:® Foam Cutter from FloraCraft
-Light colored excelsior
-Bunny figurine
-Faux lettuce head
-Several small faux carrots
-Floral clay
-Various pastel colored flowers
- Design It:® Wire cutter
-Faux pastel colored Easter eggs
-Ribbon (optional)
-Design It:® Paddle wire (optional)
-Scissors (optional)
-Hot glue gun and glue sticks (optional)

1. Using the foam cutter, cut the Styrofoam to fit into the basket.

I painted my basket white prior to making the arrangement.

Cut Styrofoam with the foam cutter.

2. Cover the Styrofoam with excelsior.

3. Put floral clay on the bottom of the bunny figurine. This keeps the bunny in place so it won't break, but allows you to remove it later if you wish. Clear enough excelsior on the right side of the basket to place the bunny directly on the Styrofoam and press bunny firmly on the foam for the clay to adhere.

Floral clay comes on a roll like this. It is very sticky and adheres floral arrangements securely, yet allows you to remove the items later.

4. Add a small amount of floral clay to the end of the lettuce head and the back of each carrot. Place the lettuce on the left side of the basket and scatter the carrots evenly around.

5. Using the wire cutter, cut the stems short on several flowers and randomly place them around the basket, very close to the excelsior.

6. Trim some flowers longer and put them in the back of the basket.  Then apply a small strip of floral clay on the faux eggs and use them to fill in any empty spaces in the arrangement.

If you would like, you can stop here and have a very lovely arrangement.

7. (Optional): Make a bow with the ribbon and tie it off with the floral wire.

8. Glue bow on the right side of the basket.

Now you have a pretty arrangement perfect for any Easter table or buffet. I'll show you later how I am using it in my decor.

This arrangement is delightful, Shannon. The bunny looks too cute to be mischievous so he must have gotten his carrots at the market. LOL

Such a pretty arrangement. You sure know how to make some great arrangements. Is this something you particularly love to do?
I've tried to make things like yours for years but it's just not something I excel at. It's one of those talents you either have or don't. Lucky you seem to have a great talent at this. Yours are very special.
Love your blog, am always inspired.
Happy days
